The new pier at the Pomeranian Dukes' Castle in Szczecinek is officially accessible to residents. Mayor Jerzy Hardie-Douglas, the president of the city council Katarzyna Dudź and the owners of the company that carried out the construction works symbolically cut the ribbon on Sunday.

- Opening of this bridge is a result of a consistent policy of the city for 13 years and the goal of this policy was turning towards the lake. It is the culmination of works along the banks of Trzesiecko lake – said mayor Jerzy Hardie-Douglas. And he added: - The bridge was primarily designed for our residents. Szczecinek is beautifully located and sometimes when leaving work we can feel as if we were on holiday. Therefore, the entire infrastructure, i.e. Mouse Island, ships, water taxis, city beach or ski lift, is for us to be able to live here in a pleasant way.

The pier is nearly 100 meters long and the observation deck is 31 meters long. The whole structure is illuminated, and in its vicinity there are park couches and bicycle stands. The investment received financial support from the Regional Operational Program for the West Pomeranian Voivodeship. For this reason, more than 550,000 PLN will be sent to the City Hall's account. The entire work consumed almost 2 million PLN.

Before the opening of the pier a new water sports season over Trzesiecko lake was started by starost Krzysztof Lis and the president of a sailing club "Orlę" Szczecinek Adam Butowicz.
